Dream Theater came from Boston U.S.A. In September of 1985, when "Berklee" students drummer Portnoy, bassist John Myung and guitar player John Petrucci decided to start a band together. Originally known as Majesty, the fledgling act recruited keyboardist Kevin Moore and singer Chris Collins into the fold. Collins eventually left, replaced by Charlie Dominici, while another band forced them to drop the Majesty moniker in favor of Dream Theater, named after a demolished California cinema.

Their first album was released in noverber 1986 called“When Dream And Day Unite”it made an immediate impact on the underground progressive rock scene, but Dream Theater wanted to push further. so they replaced Dominici with James LaBrie. several years later ,they replaced keyboard with Jordan Rudess. And this is the final band member.

Dream Theater was the most important and effective Progressive Metal band from 90's.  They have released 20 albums (including EP
、DVD and Single). the famous are Images And Words (1992), Awake (1994), Falling Into Infinity (1997), Scenes From A Memory(1999), Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence (2002), Train Of Thought (2003), and the new album Systematic Chaos (2007). Between them, "Awake" was the first successful album ,it hitted Billboard in NO.32, andy sold out 43000 in German a week. The next successful album called Scenes From A Memory, in the album they played 70 minites great solo. the two most important albums made them the king of   Progressive Metal.

Their first tour was in U.S.A at 1994 and their first out-sea tour was in Japan at 1995. Then they took part in many Europe Metal Festivals. They also have released 4 live albums and 6 live DVDs, including live in New York and live in Tokyo.

Now in Jan.2008 they will come to China for first time, so let's looking forward to it!
