Dark Tranquillity is a Melodic Death Metal band, it came from Sweden in early 90's. There was a revolusion of Death Metal called Gothenburg Sound. And it was Darktranquillity who started the revolusion.

Dark Tranquillity fouded in winter 1989. The early members were: vocal Anders Friden, guitar Mikael Stanne and Niklas Sundin, bass Martin Henriksson, drum Anders Jivarp. Now band members are: Mikael Stanne - voice、Niklas Sundin - guitars、Martin Henriksson - guitars、Anders Jivarp - drums、Michael Nicklasson - bass、Martin Brändström - electronics.

The earliest demos were "Trail of life decayed"（demo/EP 1991）, "A moonclad reflection"（EP 1992 ），"Tranquillit"（cassette EP 1992）. They were all limited release. Their First album name is "Skydancer"（1993），After that, many Viking Metal bands fellow the lead of Dark Tranquillity. it became a new kind of Metal called "New Wave of Swedish Death Metal".

They have released 14 albums (including cd、midi cd and ep).  The 8 cds are "Skydancer"（1993），the eternally perfect Melodic Death Metal album "The Gallerly"(1996), their most gloomy album"The Mind's I"(1997), Sweden Grammy nominated album "Projector"(1999), "Haven"(2000),"Damage Done"(2002), "Character"(2005), and newest "Fiction"(2007). Their music including religion, art, psychology ,quantum cosmology and many other ideology.

Their first tour started at 1999, and then toured Europe together with IN FLAMES，CHILDREN OF BODOM，ARCH ENEMY. and took parted in many metal festivals including: Prattein metal festival, Gods Of Metal etc. They aslo came to Turkey, Japan, Mexico and many other out-sea countires.

Now in Jan.2008 they will come to China for first time, so let's looking forward to it!
